As they enjoy a glass of our fine wine, people often wonder why our company is called ‘Mirù’. We like to tell them about a time long ago when - according to certain 16th-century texts - a family of winemakers originally from Arluno known as ‘Mirù’ cultivated their vineyards in the Ghemme area.
Making wine was a passion for the Arlunno family, and, because genuine passion smoulders like fire beneath the embers, in 1978 the family patriarch Eugenio bravely decided to breathe new life into the activity. Time, albeit marked by the sedate rhythms of nature and the passing of the seasons, has decreed its success.
My passion for the vineyard is a family inheritance. It was aunt Bruna - Bruna Zecchinato, a grand dame of wine - who passed her devotion to our land and wine on to me. I learned the joy of transforming grapes into quality wines from her, and I became a winemaker. In 2009 I took over the management of the winery, which is still family-run and possesses 8 hectares of vines cultivated with care, dedication and passion.
It is thanks to natural cultivation methods and careful ageing that the wines of Azienda Agricola Mirù can rightly claim their place among the best Italyn wines, appreciated in Italy and abroad. This is the vision I concentrate my commitment on: bringing the flavour and bouquets of my wines around the world, and promoting the timeless charm of the Novara Hills.
